net.art
net.art is a very off-the-grid style of art created on the internet with a very 90s aesthetic. not to be confused with art that is drawn or painted, then scanned on to the computer or art that is digitally drawn on the computer, it involves an almost abstract feel with clusters of images or gifs often very pixelated. many of it can be collages and intentionally hard to look at, but some can have an odd sense of simplicity, even amongst the mashups.
popular or pioneer net artists are petra cortright, olia lialina, daniel andujar, and kim asendorf.
wiki definition: internet art is a form of digital artwork distributed via the internet. this form of art has circumvented the traditional dominance of the gallery and museum system, delivering aesthetic experiences via the internet.
